SEPTEMBER has been a bustling month for the Tourism Whitsundays team, and we have some exciting news to share about our region’s tourism scene.
The latest numbers from the National and International Visitor Surveys, for the year ending June 2024, are really promising, as we welcomed a record-breaking 968,000 visitors!
That’s a jump of nearly 14 per cent compared to pre-COVID times. It’s a clear sign of recovery and growing enthusiasm for our beautiful region.
We’re also super excited to introduce Emma Bailes, who’s just joined us at TW.
Coming from ‘Visit Victoria’, Emma brings a wealth of experience in tourism, branding, design and marketing.
As our new marketing co-ordinator, she’ll be working on enhancing our graphic design and branding efforts, helping us showcase the Whitsundays as an unmissable destination.
Looking ahead, we can’t wait for the Whitsundays Tourism Awards, in October, at the stunning Daydream Island Resort. GO WHITSUNDAYS!
This event is a highlight for us, a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the amazing achievements in our local tourism industry.
It’s going to be a night to remember, so we hope you’ll join us!
Just a heads-up: Ticket sales close in early October, so make sure you don’t miss out.
Also, mark your calendars for QTIC Tourism Week, from November 13 to 15, 2024, at the new Star Brisbane, in Queen’s Wharf.
This exciting event will gather around 1,000 delegates for the Destination IQ and DestinationQ Forums, plus the Queensland Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony.
It’s a great chance to celebrate our industry’s successes and chat about the future of tourism in Queensland.
As we look back on September’s achievements and get ready for the exciting events ahead, we’re filled with optimism for the Whitsundays tourism industry.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to shine a light on what makes our region an unforgettable destination for travellers from all over the world.
Until next month,
Aimee Cameron, interim CEO.
