WELCOME to the first fortnightly issue of the Whitsunday News newspaper.
From today, the printed newspaper is moving to a fortnightly format, with the next printed newspaper due to be published on Wednesday, August 16, followed by Wednesday, August 30, and so on.
We announced the move in last week’s Editor’s Column and also at last Thursday’s celebration for the Whitsunday News newspaper’s third birthday, held at the Reef Gateway Hotel in conjunction with Tourism Whitsundays (see photos page 19).
Following a strategic review of the business at the three-year mark, the Whitsunday News will become a multi-platform media company, delivering news across multiple channels.
This includes the Whitsunday News website (launched in July last year) and our social media channels, as well as the printed newspaper.
The fortnightly dates will be clearly marked on the front cover of the printed newspaper and the content will pertain to those dates.
Please keep supporting the printed newspaper and buying every issue – we really appreciate it!
You can subscribe and have it delivered to your post box (via Australia Post).
Or you can subscribe to a digital version of the newspaper (exactly the same as the printed version) via our website.
Meanwhile…
It’s the event of events this week, with the Great Barrier Reef Festival taking place over four big days (August 3 to 6).
See festival program on page 8 of this newspaper.
The diverse program of arts, music, environmental and community events draws visitors from all over Queensland and Australia, with more than 12,000 attendees, in 2022.
If you still haven’t registered for this Saturday’s Rotary Street Parade, be quick and jump online – registrations close today (August 2).
See our Great Barrier Reef Festival stories on pages 8 and 21 this week.
As always, thanks for reading this newspaper.
Deborah.
