THE LNP will deliver a major upgrade for the Proserpine Rugby League Club if elected later this month.
The clubhouse, at Les Stagg Oval, needs a new kitchen to help cater for the hundreds of players, families and supporters who use the popular community hub every weekend.
Whitsunday MP Amanda Camm said the $75,000 commitment was part of the LNP’s focus on working harder for Queenslanders while, under Labor, Queensland was heading in the wrong direction.
“The Whitsunday Brahmans committee has been working extremely hard in conjunction with the Whitsunday Regional Council and the QRL to plan for the next stage of growth at the Les Stagg Oval facilities,” Ms Camm said.
“The clubhouse is getting an upgrade and the LNP’s commitment of $75,000 will ensure that a fully functioning kitchen can be included from the outset.”
Ms Camm said the club’s facilities had reached the end of their life and required a major upgrade so the facility can be used by sporting clubs and community groups.
Vice Chairman Doug Davy welcomed the commitment.
“The Whitsunday Brahmans are investing in the future of sports in Proserpine and the greater Whitsundays, by engaging with CPR group to develop a master plan for Les Stagg Oval,” he said.
“With a staged approach to the project and with a commitment from local council of $1.6m towards the dressing rooms and amenities, and QRL endorsement, the new facility will cater for inclusivity with male and female change rooms, disabled facilities, and a medical treatment room, and bring Les Stagg up to current standards.
“This financial commitment will allow the inclusion of a suitable commercial kitchen, once the upgrades take place, which also ensures that cooking no longer needs to be completed off site, which will greatly assist the volunteers.”
Amanda Camm said the LNP was committed to delivering for regional communities.
“We produce such successful sporting talent from our regions, and we need to ensure our sporting infrastructure continues to foster this talent,” she said.
Ms Camm said Queenslanders could vote for the upgrade for Proserpine Rugby League, and a government focused on delivering for regional Queensland, by voting LNP at the upcoming state election.
“Our state needs a fresh start and only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s future.”
