LOCAL tour boat operator True Blue Sailing is ‘walking the walk’ with an all-female crew on one of its vessels.
Last month, for the first time in more 20 years of operating, the company sent out its vessel ‘New Horizon’ with an all-female crew.
True Blue Sailing runs two boats, ‘The Atlantic Clipper’ and ‘New Horizon’.
“Both boats offer two-day, two-night sailing adventures to the 18–35-year-old market,” True Blue Sailing operations manager Phil Browne said.
“New Horizon heads out with four crew, on each of those trips and, for the first time in our 20-years of operation, it was an all-female crew.
“Ayla Postle (left in the picture) was the skipper. She’s worked with us for over 18 months and recently gained her Master Class 5 ticket and is now our regular skipper.
“Jordan Barta (middle bottom) was first mate (and hopefully a future skipper for us) and she’s been with us for over six months now.
“Larissa Schulte (middle top) was our dive instructor and took many of the guests diving on that trip.
“Lauren Dennis (on the right) was our host/deckhand and has been with us for over six months as well.
“We’re super proud of this.”
