Must read

SEALINK Marine & Tourism is pleased to announce the appointment of Asher Telford, General Manager of SeaLink Whitsundays, to the board of Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr Telford’s appointment reflects his deep-rooted connection to the Whitsundays community, a long-standing commitment to regional tourism, and a proven record of business leadership.

He currently oversees a diverse portfolio including SeaLink Whitsundays, Red Cat Adventures, Whitsunday Jet Ski Tours, Hayman Island Ferries, and Hayman Island Watersports, bringing more than a decade of operational excellence and award-winning visitor experiences to the table.

Mr Telford began his career in the marine industry more than 25 years ago, working as a freelance skipper before serving as a navigator and chief boarding officer with the Australian Border Force Marine Unit.

He then went on to co-found Red Cat Adventures and acquired the Whitsunday Jet Ski Tours operations, building both into four-time national tourism award winning businesses, widely recognised for their innovation, commitment to sustainability, and outstanding guest experiences.

“As someone who has lived and worked in the Whitsundays for many years, I’m passionate about supporting the growth and resilience of our local business community,” Mr Telford said.

“I’m honoured to represent the tourism and marine sectors on the Chamber board and look forward to contributing to initiatives that strengthen our regional economy.”

His hands-on operational experience is complemented by strategic leadership across the wider tourism and marine sectors.

Mr Telford also currently serves on the boards of the Association of Marine Park Tourism Operators, Greater Whitsunday Alliance, and the Whitsunday Charter Boat Industry Association.

“Asher’s appointment is a win for the broader Whitsundays business community,” Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Allan Milostic said.

“He brings strong commercial insight and a genuine passion for the region. His voice will be a valuable addition to the Chamber’s advocacy and strategic planning.”

In this new role, Mr Telford will help shape the Chamber’s long-term direction, foster cross-industry collaboration, and ensure that the needs of regional employers, marine operators and tourism providers remain front and centre in local policy and business development.

SeaLink Marine & Tourism congratulates Mr Telford on his appointment and welcomes the positive impact his knowledge and experience will bring to the Whitsundays business community.
