A GOOD news story to start off the news!
The pic this week is of a group of family members all from Melbourne, and three from Uganda, who came home for the get-together.
Every two years they all get together for a family holiday and every day of the holiday enjoy an activity together.
Wednesday’s activity was a mini tennis tournament with a trophy for the winning pair.
The laughter was lyrical and the tennis a hoot. Word has it Thursday was trivia!
In other news: Tuesday night social tennis was, as ever, to the point with lots of points being played.
Wednesday the girls and guys were rusty after a week off. But they were quickly back into the swing of things.
Thursday night it was a case of locals only and mixed doubles was the theme.
Saturday afternoon had a couple of visitors join the group.
It was the ‘on court off the court’ for that ever-present drizzle.
This didn’t dampen spirits. Why? Wimbledon was celebrated with strawberries and cream for afternoon tea – a Wimbledon must and two special ‘out the bucket’ prizes.
Families and court hire went together – The Ganter family, Tim and friend, and an all-the-way-from-France family.
Reminder: Coaching resumes on Monday, July 8. Your day and time stay the same unless otherwise notified. Coach Jenny can’t wait to see everyone!
The Wimbledon Championships come to an end this coming weekend. Stay up late and have a great feast of top tennis. It is on free-to-air television.
Are you enjoying Wimbledon? Do you fancy trying Tennis? Or want to dust off your racquet?
We have a session to suit you on Wednesday – Adult/Refresher – and Thursday is Adult/Refresher/Improve.

Pickleball Whitsunday
Big news: Coach Gordon is returning for more informative sessions on our courts, on July 20 and 21. Contact Gordon direct.
Monday night and Wednesday night were, as per usual, high on octane and as a result octane pickleball was played.
Tuesday morning Ronnie and Helen were pleased to have visitors Brian and family join in for the morning.
They were a pleasure to play and had a good old-fashioned chat.
Thursday afternoon was a windy one, so there was much chasing down of the yellow wiffle ball.
Two courts of action, so plenty of sets. Who played?
To name a few: John and wife Marg, John and wife Helen, Andre and wife Grace. Must have been love in the air?
The Saturday morning group were oohing over their new bench seat. But there was no sitting down, too much playing to do on court.
Numbers were down, as a group of our players were in Mackay for a tournament.
What is the biggest pickle in Pickleball?
You guessed it ‘Cemented feet’! Your shoes suddenly have a love affair with the court, glued, stuck, – yes ‘Unmovable’ – your game starts to crumble.
You start reaching instead of quickly getting to the ball. Quick fix – start moving your feet!
What to do if you would like to play Pickleball – call 0418 866 808 and follow the Pickleball Whitsunday Facebook page.
Till next week ‘Paddles Up’.
