CONGRATULATIONS to our men gaining runners up in the Country Pennant, held at Brandon, on Sunday.
Ayr came in winners, followed by Wangaratta, Brandon and Bowen Bowls Club.
Denise and Penny played well in the North Queensland Ladies District Sides competition, last week, on the Sunshine Coast.
North Qld was placed 6th out of 20 districts in the first three days to be relegated to Division 2 in the play-offs, on Saturday. This was a great achievement. Although the side didn’t win, they gained valuable experience for future competitions.
Tuesday’s results: Winners for the afternoon Bron Tolcher, Sue Shearing, Geoff Danvers defeated Gwenda Lydom, Isobel Wheeler, Steve Roome, and Merle Elphinstone, W Coonan, Greg Colquhoun defeated Irene Laird, Tracy Stanford, Kevin Jewell. The jackpot didn’t go off.
Ladies Competition: The Final of the B singles was played on Saturday. Congratulations to Teresa Willshire, who defeated Pat Tracey in a very close game.
Then on Sunday, Teresa defeated Jocelyn Defranciscis in the Consistency Final.
Sundays results: Winners for the afternoon were Bron Tolcher, Toni Bowen, Linda Scells, Linda Smith defeated Jocelyn Defranciscis, Deb Beel, Merle Elphinstone, Pat Tracey.
Bill Myers, Doug Messence defeated Irene Laird, Kevin Baxter. Kerry Messence, Fely Duncan defeated Deb Retchless, Robyn Stitt. The jackpot did not go off.
