Whitsunday Swimming Club commemorates ANZAC Day 2025

Must read

MEMBERS of the Whitsunday Swimming Club have been getting into the ANZAC spirit.

On Monday, April 21, 10 of the club’s swimmers and their families assisted with placing Australian Flags on the graves of fallen men and women, at the Proserpine cemetery, in preparation for ANZAC Day.

“This experience was both humbling and moving for all involved,” WSC President Amanda Yuskan said.

“With over 400 flags placed, it was a big community effort and rewarding to give back to the community that supports us.”

On ANZAC Day, six dedicated swimmers and their families came together to proudly march at the Proserpine ANZAC Day march.

“Ti and Savanah held the banner proudly throughout the main street march, with Savanah and Jack proudly laying a wreath, on behalf of the swimming club, at the cenotaph,” Mrs Yuskan said.

“A big thank you to Savanah, Ti, Georgia, Jack, Mackenzie, Savannah, George, Ivy, Lochlan, Hayden, Leyton, Jayde and families, for giving your time for this very important part of our country’s history.

“The Whitsunday Swimming Club is proud to give back to our supportive community.”

The club trains from Monday to Friday, from 4pm onwards, at the Proserpine Swimming Pool.

Training will continue during the winter months.
