Mr Secomb was a Life Member of the club, a great supporter of his fellow members, and a champion bowls player.

He passed away on November 7, 2024, just a few weeks before his 98th birthday.

“Last Thursday, we had some devastating news with the loss of Herb Secomb, who had only just been admitted to the elderly home a few weeks ago,” Airlie Bowls Club spokesperson Mark Mawson said.

“He was only a few weeks away from his 98th birthday, having been born on November 21, 1926.

“He and his lovely wife Mae had been made Life Members of our club, in 2023, in recognition of their services to the club.

“Herb is now playing bowls in heaven and will never be forgotten by all members of his beloved club.”

Herb is survived by wife Mae, daughters Denise, Lee and Mandy, and son Greg.

Details of his funeral are to be advised.
