THE FINAL event in the Whitsunday Lions Charity Golf Day 2023 was held at the Whitsunday Green Golf Club recently.
The Lions Charity Golf Day, in June, was once again a huge success. As well as being a lot of fun, the event raised more than $10,000 for the support of local causes.
The cheque presentation, on September 2, 2023, coincided with the ‘soft opening’ of the new Members Lounge, at Whitsunday Green.
“In partnership with the management team at Whitsunday Green, and with the generous support of dozens of local businesses, not to mention the Golfing skills of more than 150 golfers, donations were made to assist three local organisations to continue their great work,” a Whitsunday Lions spokesman said.
The three local organisations that received funds were:
The Whitsunday Suicide Support Network, to extend their counselling support services.
Whitsunday Counselling and Support, to fund the establishment of a special ‘teenagers’ lounge for family support.
And Proserpine Hospital Auxiliary, to purchase patient care and mobility equipment.
“We thank all those involved in the success again this year, especially Whitsunday Green staff for the use of their magnificent facilities and their professional advice,” the spokesman said.
“It was a lot of work, but it was even more fun, and the benefits are what makes it all worthwhile. We’ll all be back to do it again next year!”
