Public consultations: Have your say

Must read

THE WHITSUNDAY Planning Scheme 2017 is undergoing its first Major Amendment and council is calling on residents to ‘Have your Say’.

Whitsundays residents can help shape land use planning in the region before the cut-off date of Friday, September 16.

Whitsunday Regional Council is carrying out public consultations on various amendments to the Whitsunday Planning Scheme 2017, and associated reports, on council’s ‘Your Say’ website.

Amendments include updated mapping and new local plans for Bowen and Airlie Beach, which will guide future development.

The amendments respond to local issues, promote development incentives, enhance environmental protections and improve natural hazard planning, in a manner that respects community values.

Other public consultations are also closing this Friday, including the Housing Affordability Crisis and The Whitsunday Development Manual.

The Whitsunday Development Manual is a Planning Scheme Policy that defines technical engineering standards for future development.

In response to growing housing pressures, council would also like to engage the community as part of an Affordable Housing Consultation, to collect information, experiences and recommendations for integrating more housing diversity, in the region.

Email submissions@whitsundayrc.qld.gov.au or lodge online via the respective project page at the ‘Your Say’ website. Or contact council’s strategic planning team on 07 4945 0200.

Or mail to PO Box 104, Proserpine QLD 4800 or deliver in person to council offices.

Essential information for a properly made submission includes name, address and signature.
